Now, rather than rapidly releasing the pressure like we did with the earlier kit, remove the pin, admitting air into the syringe barrel. Now replace the pin, sealing the hole. Release the clip, and push the handle in, lightly pressurizing the barrel and forcing adhesive into the chip for a minute or so. The second slot will trap the clip as soon as you've pushed in far enough. Repeat this vent, suck, vent, squeeze operation several times to force adhesive into the crack.

Kadink!- Star defect on windshield which was just recently replaced…. Very fortunate that location was above the rv mirror, and no rain prior to repair attempt. I “carefully” selected the 8M product due to this being the only one available at the store. Just followed the (excellent) directions- And employed some degree of nontransferable “fixit” knowledge long accumulated…. Which means- Someone “not handy” might gorf it up! I have to say here that the conditions present were perfect- for a good repair- No water intrusion/done soon/resin curing sunlight available, etc, etc. Without using a microscope, It appears that it worked!- Time will tell…. Kinda: A bummer star crack experience reversed into a “YAY” via a $65 kit.

Professional windshield repair technicians have fixed hundreds, if not thousands, of rock chips. This experience enables them to complete the job with the smallest risk of causing additional damage.
A clean surface is essential. First, clean the area surrounding the damage with glass cleaner. This will help the repair kit's suction cups adhere firmly to the windshield. Next, take a razor blade and pick out any tiny loose pieces of glass that may be in the chip or pockmark. Any debris could prevent the repair kit resin from bonding properly to the glass. Allow time for the damaged area to dry completely before you move on to the next step.
Windshield repair kits can be an effective and economical way to fix chips and pockmarks that can obscure your vision. They're not intended to repair large cracks in the glass, however. That's still something a pro should do. But for minor surface damage, a windshield repair kit is sufficient. You can buy one at any decent auto parts store. You'll also need the following supplies:

Even if your chip isn't in your direct line of sight, it's a good idea to try and repair it. Water will find its way into the chip, pulled in by surface tension. If the chip goes all the way through the top lamination, any moisture that gets that deep can delaminate the glass from the center membrane. Eventually, the membrane will fog, causing a larger blemish. Water also can freeze in the chip, causing a larger flaw or even a crack. Also, water can carry dirt into the crack--and there's no way to flush it out.
